The Mosta Supporters’Club is this year celebrating its 17th anniversary. In fact, it was officially founded in 1992, during that same year’s Mosta F.C. general meeting. Founder President was Joe Quattromani, Joe Chetcuti was appointed secretary and Michael Camilleri treasurer. The other Committee members were Anna Agius, Rita Camilleri, Emanuel Cassia, Joe Abela, Anthony Deguara , Jimmy Busuttil and Stephen Borg.
The three main motives of the Supporters’ Club are:
From the start, committee meeting were held regularly, and a new statute was formatted. A competition for a new logo design was won by local artist Mr. Joe Micallef. Large streamers were painted and exhibited in the grounds at all competitive matches. Jerseys, T shirts, cap, badges and scarves were up for sale. The blue and white flags increased considerably. Chants of ‘Come on Blues and Viva Mosta’ started to be heard in the terrace. In less than a year, the Mosta Supporters’ Club gave Mosta Football Club a new face lift.
Social activities like Dinner Dances, Bar B.Q.’s, Carnival Parties, Tombola and Christmas Functions were organized and all very well attended. Rallies for Supporters became regular. “Mill-Mosta Ghall-Angli” a fund raising campagn in aid of Dar tal-Providenza during Christmas season collected thousands of liri for the under privileged. In less than expected Mosta FC became a bee-hive of activities.
In 1994 Mosta Supporters’ Club was instrumental to launch “Federazzjoni tas-Supporters Clubs Maltin” with Mr. Joe Quattromani nominated as its first president.
In the Mosta Football Magazine Annual 2001/2 Joe Chetcuti, Mosta Council member wrote, “Perhaps very few know that the Mosta Supperters’ Club was one of the first local Supporters’ Clubs founded in Malta. There were many other clubs supporting foreign teams before, another supporting Malta National Team, but none supported the locals. Hence I am proud to say that Mosta Supporters’ Club founded in 1992 must be the first.”
